Mindful Mornings

Whilst travelling this morning I became aware of a deeply sad photograph of a fireman in Spain amongst the other tragic stories of fires and earthquakes across the world in a local free newspaper. His head in his hands, body slumped and covered in his work of fire fighting.  A job which is being really tested right now.  I felt his exhaustion and thought take a moment.  I put away the newspaper, the crossword could wait as could the daily horoscope.  I put everything away, eyes looking down, and started my well practised breath in and out.  No other traveller needed to know of my intention, however I hoped that the quietness of the energy might resonate with those around me.  I repeated this until I felt still and reminded myself of my many blessings and sent a moment of loving kindness to that man and the stories I had been shown.  Take a moment each day for you and in that moment be mindful of stillness and presence.  Breathe IN and Breathe OUT.  As Thich Nhat Hanh says “Breathing in I smile. Breathing out, I release.  Breathing in, I dwell in the present moment.  Breathing out, I feel it is a wonderful moment”
